An orientation session on Leadership for students of Standards XI and XII was conducted by Miss Rupal Talati. The session was both insightful and interactive, aiming to instill leadership qualities and motivation among students.

Miss Talati began by explaining what motivation is. She split the word motivation into “motive” and “motion,” explaining that it means finding a purpose or motive in life that sets us into motion. This, she said, is the driving force behind all our actions.

She then spoke about her second key idea — "Life is All About Choices." Using the analogy of the letters A B C D, she explained that B stands for Birth and D stands for Death, both of which are beyond our control. The only letter in our control is C — Choices. The decisions we make shape the course of our life.

The session also included an engaging Bingo Card Activity. In this exercise, students acted as interviewers and interviewed one another about hobbies listed on the bingo card — whether they could do them or not. This activity highlighted two essential lessons:

  1. Connection is necessary for effective teamwork.
  2. Initiation is necessary for leadership.

Miss Talati encouraged students to be expressive and approachable in order to connect with people.

The main segment of the orientation focused on Leadership. She addressed two fundamental questions:

  1. Why Leadership? – To represent a team and to connect it with higher authorities.
  2. What is Leadership? – To make things happen.

She went on to share the core qualities of a leader:

  1. Vision and Values – Values are like the roots of a tree. The most important values are respect and communication.
  2. Effective Communication and People Orientation – Respecting others and acknowledging their different perceptions.

Miss Talati also explained the Albert Mehrabian Rule, which describes how communication is influenced more by tone and body language than just words.

The session concluded on a high note, leaving students motivated and better informed about what it takes to be a leader. Miss Rupal Talati’s presentation was clear, well-organized, and highly engaging. Her ability to blend activities, real-life examples, and key leadership principles made the orientation a memorable and valuable experience for all present.
